Conroe Bargain Box, Inc. 501(c) 3 – Our volunteers operate and maintain our resale shop at 123 N. Thompson in Conroe.  Donations are resold at a much-reduced price for the benefit of Montgomery County residents.  All proceeds over and above administrative costs directly benefit the various service opportunities mentioned below and local charities.  In May our store will celebrate 60 years of service to Montgomery County.

Family Outreach Programs:

BridgeWay  –We volunteer at the Montgomery County Youth Services coed facility that offers emergency shelter for youth who need temporary housing due to extreme family conflict, abuse and/or neglect, and homelessness.  We meet with the youth on a monthly basis to help celebrate special occasions, teach life skills, provide cultural art activities or include them in a community service project.  We have a back to school party at the Bargain Box for them to shop for clothing and we provide them with school supplies.   We also host a Christmas party at BridgeWay

Baby Bundles – We provide gently used clothing, baby blankets, diapers and other necessities for the needy families of babies born at Conroe Regional Medical Center.

Priceless Gowns – We provide donations to the First Baptist Church’s Priceless Gowns ministry and also volunteer at the event.

Community Outreach Programs:

Audio/Visual – We provide a state-mandated vision and hearing screening for area preschools.  For the past several years we have partnered with the Conroe Noon Lions Club to provide this service.  Over 400 children were screened this year.  We have provided this service since 1971.

Young Texas Artists – We provide desserts for the Bach, Beethoven, or Barbecue event at the Crighton Theatre.

Welfare Program – The Conroe Bargain Box provides clothing and other items to residents of Montgomery County that need assistance due to hard times, house fires, homelessness and other dire circumstances.

Scholarships - Each year we raise money to award scholarships to Montgomery County high school seniors to help with college expenses.  In recent years we have been able to give 5 to 10 scholarships a year.  Some of these students have been singers, musicians, artists, and pianists.  We have awarded scholarships since 1963.
